About Straight Up Sous Vide

This blog is an ode to my wife, Eden.

For a long time, my idea of 'foodie' was to just enjoy food, not cook it myself. But over the years I've been married, that definition has changed.

There's nothing that makes me happier than seeing her excited over me cooking her favorite childhood meals or surprising her with date night at home.

But as the non-cook in the house, I had to figure out how to make all the good food we loved as easily as possible.

And that's where Straight Up Sous Vide was born.

The motto here is easy, tasty, and simple small-batch recipes that are all chef/significant-other approved.

Every recipe on this blog is simple to follow and informative so you can make really great tasting food to impress that important person in your life.

There is a strong focus on sous vide cooking, which is the best way to get chef level results with no cooking skills in my opinion, and using appliances to make your life a whole lot easier. Eden loves 'culinary drudgery', I'm not so inclined. Give me an immersion blender for aïoli any day, it's so much easier than doing it by hand.

I'm Anthony Morningstar, I'm a thirty-something Navy Veteran who likes to find new ways to make life easier in the kitchen. I live in the Northern Virginia rural-burbs with my high school sweetheart and wife of over a decade, Eden, and our kiddo, Greyson.

I am the writer, producer, and recipe developer behind Straight Up Sous Vide. I am a home cook with no professional training, but love to experiment and make delicious food as easy as possible.

This is my wife, Eden.

She's a twenty-something third-generation Navy veteran and third-gen vet spouse with a degree in Culinary Arts and the best work from home mom.

She's the photographer and co-producer of Straight Up Sous Vide. She also has her own food blog, Sweet Tea + Thyme, and runs the popular intimate group course The Food Blogging Mastermind.
